Toast A Key West Legend
Captain Finbar Gittelman built Wolf in 1984 and used it to launch the first sailing charter business in Key West. After being officially declared the First Sea Lord and Supreme Commander of the Conch Republic Military Forces, Finbar led the Conch Republic Navy aboard Wolf until he passed away on December 26, 2024.
Join us for the “World’s Largest Virtual Toast” as we celebrate Captain Finbar’s life and legacy during a Crossing the Bar Farewell Ceremony on April 23, 2025 at 5:00pm EST. All proceeds go towards the restoration of Wolf.
Life Aboard Wolf
Education
Wolf has taught hundreds of youth and adults the skills of traditional sailing. As a vessel with the Planet School, that legacy will continue.
Adventure
As flagship of Key West, Wolf leads the annual Conch Republic Independence Celebration’s Great Sea Battle reenactment.
Relief Work
Wolf was designed to smuggle rum in the 1980s. Today, we use Wolf’s spacious hold to bring relief supplies to the Bahamas.

As the lone vessel in the Conch Republic Navy, Wolf embodies Key West history. Her classical rigging take you back in time to the Age of Sail.

Wolf is joining The Planet School to expand the capacity of The Planet School’s Ocean Campus. The Planet School is a tuition-free experiential high school.
Before Wolf can sail with students or the public, we need to raise $300,000 to support a full refit of the ship. More than 90% of the hull needs to be re-welded and there is substantial rust throughout the ship. Please consider supporting the renovation of Wolf so it can begin its next phase as a sailing school vessel.
